Microneedling

Micro-Needling Stretch Marks

Microneedling

For as long as history has been recorded, man has been looking for the fountain of youth.  While the search continues we have developed methods to hold that clock.

Micro-needling is one method to help people appear more youthful.  People looking to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, acne, scarring, and stretchmarks can benefit from micro-needling.

Micro-needling works by causing micro-abrasions on the area being treated, causing a healing response from the body, sending collagen and elastin to heal the micro-

damage, which in turn can help the skin appear to have less lines wrinkles and scars. The best results are seen after a series of ten treatments, scheduled 4-6 weeks apart to allow for healing in-between each appointment.

Frequently asked questions

Does microneedling hurt?

It depends on you. In our acupuncture clinic, we prepare the area to be microneedled with topical anesthetic. The anesthetic will stay on the skin between 25-30 minutes to maximize the effect of the lidocaine. The area is then wiped clean and hyaluronic acid is used to help the microneedling pen glide easily across the skin. On areas with less bone under, most people report little to no sensation. Areas with bone directly under the skin, such as the forehead, are more susptible to feeling a pinch or two, but most report it being a little uncomfortable for a few seconds.

What does microneedling treat?

Microneedling can help with the appearance in reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, acne, scarring, enlarged pores, burns, stretch marks and other skin conditions. Feel free to contact our Albuquerque office to get a consultation.

Can anyone do microneedling?

No. Not just anyone can do microneedling. Do your research. Microneedling is acupuncture, the skin is being penetrated with very fine needles, therefore it should not be done by an esthetician even if under the supervision of a doctor. A medical doctor can do microneedling but usually they do not provide this service. Again do your research, don't let just anyone microneedle your body just because they offer a deal.

What do I expect after my treatment?

You should expect to be red for a few days, although everyone respond in their own way most, no all are red for a few days. Most people report feeling like they have a light sunburn which is soothed using hyaluronic acid to keep moisturized. Keep your skin protected from the sun with powder sunscreen do not use cream sunscreen. You will be given an after care sample kit with after care instructions on how to care for your skin for the next few days.
